BMS E&D Engineer

Job Description: Are individuals skilled in estimating, bidding, and material procurement. BMS E&D Engineer play a crucial role in providing accurate and detailed cost estimates for Building Management System projects. The role involves analyzing project requirements, interpreting MEPF drawing and specifications, defining material specification, incorporating value engineering techniques, and preparing comprehensive estimates to ensure the successful execution of projects within budgetary constraints.

Task and Responsibilities:
• Be an active part of the Estimating and Design Department by performing and leading estimating activities, including estimating, planning, determining preliminary project cost and schedule, technical coordination, preparing equipment and material take-off, to final preparation of cost estimate, scope of work and BOQ.
• Prepare guidelines for the scope of work and responsibilities that are included in the drawings/documents.
• Maintain a database for cost price lists for BMS typical material, and labor man hours cost.
• Review and analysis of project scopes, identifying potential risks, opportunities, and value engineering options to optimize cost efficiency.
• Prepare detailed and organized estimate documentation, including breakdowns of costs, assumptions made, and methodologies employed. Keep records of all estimates and bid-related documents.
• Collaborate with Engineering Technical Manager in developing the BMS Architecture, Pointlist, and BMS solutions.
• Collaborate with Quantity Surveyor in conducting feasibility studies and value engineering exercises.
• Generate and track bids and budget estimates from the pre-concept design stage to the construction document stage.
• Present value engineering and cost-saving opportunities to clients as required to meet budget constraints.
• Recognize/identify potential document discrepancies and errors and develop RFI questions for a timely response.
• Aids and coordination in the preparation of shop drawings and build sheets during project execution stages to facilitate the project management department.
• Evaluated change orders and informed project management about their potential implications on project cost, schedule, and quality.
• Attend meetings with the shareholders to update and discuss the project conditions, estimate totals, and incorporate value engineering where required.
• Provide Final Bid Proposal/Quotation in line with the clients timeline.
