Job Description

US Audit Senior In-Charge

Work Set up: Remote
Work Shift: US Shift | Monday to Friday

POSITION OVERVIEW:
Provides timely, high-quality client service, including planning, budgeting, and coordinating all client deliverables. Understands skill sets and capabilities of team members, monitors and reviews work product to ensure quality and skill development. Capable of managing larger, more complex engagement teams, ensuring client satisfaction and team morale. Proactively and confidently communicates with all levels at the Firm and clients.


REPORTING STRUCTURE
This role reports to the Audit manager, and the partner responsible for the engagement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Effectiveness
Tailor procedures in the methodology tool in consultation with the Engagement Manager or Partner, as warranted by the client’s business practices, identified risks, and accounting policies and procedures
Develop an audit plan, in coordination with the engagement manager or partner, which includes understanding the client’s business and industry, and government regulations and requirements affecting the client
Proactively addresses client concerns and escalates issues as they arise
Provides timely, high-quality deliverables covering complex sections while overseeing fieldwork, and coordinating deliverables from multiple team members

Statutory Compliance
-Laws and regulations: Ensuring that the audit team complies with all the relevant laws and regulations for example, Professional code of conduct and Auditing standards
-Advising audit manager on significant auditing matters and the impact of laws and regulations on the firm if they are not applied appropriately

Operational Management
-Perform detailed work procedures that cannot be delegated to staff assistants, such as overall analysis of the client’s business and its effects on its financial statements, as well as detailed analysis of certain critical financial statement accounts of the client
-Perform the cleaning up and archiving of the Explorer file and other working papers at the conclusion of every engagement and within the prescribed period of archiving
-Perform preliminary review of financial statements, audit reports, income tax returns, and management letters in preparation for the review of the engagement manager.
-Participate in and document the engagement planning and risk assessment meetings.
-Review of Planning, including Risk Assessment
-Journal testing
-Substantive fieldwork
-Performing analytical procedures
-Taxation / deferred tax testing
-Related parties & inter-company transactions testing
-Performing Group audit
-Financial Statement drafting and preparation
-Comprehensive review of financial statements prepared in accordance with IFRS
-Concluding Procedures
-Managing client and team expectations
-Drafting of relevant reports
-Overall project management of audits
-Control design and operating effectiveness review
-Going Concern Assessments
-Inventory Testing
-Materiality Calculations
-Review and sign off on work papers
-Preparing and auditing consolidations and business acquisitions.
-Reviewing and executing complex audit sections

Budget Management
-Planning the budget and resources for an engagement
-Ensure that the engagement team meets the client’s set deadline.
-Actively monitors productivity and budgets and ensures adherence to work plan schedule.

Team management
-Leads multiple teams of at least 5 members
-Supervising the engagement team and tasks per budget.
-Coaching of junior team members
-Leading an engagement End-to-End (from Planning, Execution, Finalization, Team and Client Relations)
-Leading internal and client meetings
-Provide timely feedback to staff assistants about their job performance, i.e., their strong and weak points and areas for improvement
-Accomplish and discuss Performance Review Reports (PRRs) of staff assistants immediately after every engagement
-Participate in an annual performance review process through deliberations on the overall performance of staff assistants
-Assign specific responsibilities to staff assistants based on the latter’s experience and capabilities
-Interacts with clients and engagement teams to help ensure the information flow from the client to the team is efficient

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Completion of an Accounting / Finance-related degree.
-Fully Qualified ACA / ACCA / CPA.
-5+ years of external audit experience
-Experience handling US or AU accounting and audits
-Experience from the big 4 audit firms or medium-sized firms
-Industry experience with Financial Services, Real Estate, and General and Commercial
-2+ years of post-article experience leading teams and managing audits end-to-end
-Audit experience must be within the last two years
-Proficiency in auditing software like CaseWare, Teammate, Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks
-Proficiency in MS Office applications
-A solid understanding of accounting standards for both IFRS and GAAP
-Ability to build relationships while asking tough questions
-Strong background and experience with audit methodologies and techniques.
-Prior success in conducting external audits.
-Excellent written and oral skills
-Strong time management and organizational skills
-Strong risk management and mitigation
-Ability to perform analytical procedures
-Knowledge about testing the following sections: Journals, Deferred tax, Revenue, and Related parties
-Managing relationships with team members and clients- to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the project
