Job Description

Electrical & ELV Section Head / MEP Department Deputy Manager
Job Purpose
MEP Department Deputy Manager (2IC)
Support the MEP Manager in his daily duties and be his deputy as and when required, undertaking
managerial, organisational and disciplinary activities as directed, actively participating in and supporting
departmental Business Development including making sales. This is a significant role within the business
and brings with it additional duties and responsibilities for the management of all MEP sections.
The Key Results Areas (2IC) mirror those of the MEP Manager. Over time you will be expected to
demonstrate capability in each area.
Electrical & ELV Section Head (E&E Section Head)
The E&E Section Head is responsible for leading and managing the E&E Design Section of the MEPF
Department. Guide the design team to ensure strict adherence to the approved Conceptual Design and
ensuring the completeness, constructability and code compliance of the project.

Key Result Areas (2IC)
Working with and supporting the MEP Department Manager:
1) To ensure the MEP department meets or exceeds Forsspac standards for efficiency, cost control
and leadership in the industry
2) Develop designs in line with design concepts through schematics to For Construction
documentation under the direction of the MEP Manager and with technical support from and sign
off by the Technical Director
3) Ensure that engineers are trained in the use of Revit and are able to express their designs
directly in Revit. As a result there will be limited and diminishing provision of BIM/CAD only
resources who will have specific non Design related functions.
4) Ensure technical specifications are maintained up to date including reference brands
5) Develop and maintain performance based specifications for use in design / build contracted work
6) Develop and maintain standard calculation procedures, calculation sheets and use of industry
standard software for efficient and accurate numerical computation needed in the designs.
Wherever possible ensure the use of design tools within Revit or plug in apps that carry out the
design analysis.
7) Ensure the use of Rule of Thumb calculations is understood and carried out by all Engineers to
provide reference points for all design output.
8) Ensure all work is in compliance with applicable codes and standards. These may be project
specific, local or international.
9) Ensure technical and spatial coordination is carried out between the design trade sections.
10) Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and relevant green building council/s
11) Be a representative of Forsspac to nominated trade bodies
Planning
Working with and supporting the MEP Department Manager:

1) Plan design production to be in line with customer expectation, updating plans as necessary.
2) Plan the required human resources
3) Plan the required physical, computer and software resources
Management
Working with and supporting the MEP Department Manager:
1) Ensure that all staff are managed using the principles of matrix management including the
assignment of project leaders
2) Ensure that departmental timing programs (Gantt chart style) are issued for each project on hand,
constructed using critical path methodology, and maintained to track the progress of each project
against plan.

3) Ensure that staff allocation matrix and all timing plans are reviewed weekly and that any

changes required are published and broadcast
4) Ensure that all staff are aware of and are working to the issued staff allocation matrix and
departmental timing plans
5) Prepare / Compile reports in accordance with the company Monthly Reporting Cycle. This includes
the preparation of progress reports by the team to support invoice production, preparation of man-
power plans, cost of sales and invoice projection and reporting of actual outcome.
6) Prepare regular scheduled progress reports as required by either the Operations Manager or
Technical Director
7) Attend internal management meetings as required.
8) Attend customer meetings as required
9) Ensure that all staff comply with their terms of employment and that disciplinary procedures are
invoked as required.
10) Responsible for training planning and management for the Engineering Team.
11) Responsible for on-going performance improvement of the Engineering Team. Conduct continuous
evaluation of the performance of the engineering staff taking appropriate action as required.
12) Oversee the timely promotion, demotion, salary adjustment and disciplinary action of the
employees in the MEP department making use of the prevailing HR procedures and policies.
13) Perform in an acting capacity the duties and responsibilities of staff whose absence would
otherwise prevent the department meeting its committed deadlines.
14) Support the Operations Manager/Technical Director as necessary
15) Undertake any other reasonable request or task made by an officer of the company.

Key Result Areas (E&E Section Head)

1.1 Lead and Supervise the E&E Design team to achieve on time completion of assigned project(s).
1.2 Ensure all electrical design works are carried out in accordance with the contract documents and
to the Company’s established standards.
1.3 Work with MEP Manager, client representatives or their equivalents to manage project
deliverables to meet design deadlines.
1.3 Planning and organizing the E&E Design works on a day-to-day basis working to the current
released timing plan.
1.4 Support the MEP Manager or his deputy in creating and administering design execution plans
and revising as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirement.

1.5 Responsible for planning and scheduling of all electrical design activities for the Project to
achieve timely completion in line with the design schedule.
1.6 To attend all design related meetings with the Developer / Engineer / Client and reporting back to
the MEP Manager on the proceedings.
1.7 To participate in take-offs and estimating activities.
1.8 Review and make recommendations for promotion, demotion, salary adjustment and disciplinary
action of the employees in direct reporting lines making use of the prevailing HR procedures and
policies.
1.9 Performs other duties as assigned by the MEP Manager.
2 Communication
2.1 Communicate with Government agencies, Service providers, Colleagues, Suppliers, Contractors
and The Client in an effective and professional manner. Ensure all communications whether
verbal or written are clear, concise and accurate.
2.2 Communicate with other Engineering Design sections and team members as needed for design
coordination both technical and spatial.
2.3 Ensure that internal documentation is completed in such a way that all parties may easily
understand / interpret the information.
2.4 Ensure reports are precise and detailed and are issued in a timely manner.

procedures.
2.7 Document all meetings in accordance with Forsspac guidelines.
Job Knowledge

 Electrical Engineering graduate
 With at least 10 years progressive work experience, A minimum of 5 years in Design / Consulting
Firm and 3 to 5 years as lead engineer in MEP design / services coordination related works in a
construction firm
 With well developed working knowledge of MEP Services and Systems design
 With working knowledge of various international and local Electrical and Building Codes and
Standards
 Ability to use Revit a key advantage
 Preferably a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer
 Experience in Industrial and Infrastructure projects is an advantage
 Must be proficient in English communication to an international level
 Must have developed working knowledge of the use and application of various design software
packages with particular knowledge of environmental / sustainable design methods.

Workplace
o hybrid work setup (Head office is in Makati)
o Must be residing in Metro Manila and nearby provinces
o Must be able to attend client meetings in Metro Manila and outside Metro Manila depending on
the project site
Employment Type: Probationary
Salary Range: 70-80K depending on experience
