Job Description

Responsible for helping property owners and managers rent out their properties.
*Work in residential or commercial real estate and are key to ensuring that properties are occupied and generating revenue.

Responsibilities
Property Showings: Conducting tours of the property for prospective tenants.
Marketing: Creating and managing advertisements for available properties, both online and offline.
Tenant Screening: Evaluating potential tenants by conducting background checks, credit checks, and verifying employment and rental history.
Lease Negotiation: Negotiating terms and conditions of lease agreements with tenants.
Paperwork: Preparing lease agreements and ensuring all necessary documentation is completed accurately.
Customer Service: Addressing tenant inquiries and concerns, and maintaining positive relationships with current tenants.
Market Research: Keeping abreast of market trends to determine competitive rental rates.
Property Inspections: Conducting move-in and move-out inspections and periodic checks to ensure properties are well-maintained.
Rent Collection: Overseeing the collection of rent and managing arrears.
Skills
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with potential and current tenants.
Sales and Negotiation: Strong sales skills to persuade prospective tenants and negotiation skills to finalize lease terms.
Customer Service: Ability to handle tenant issues and provide exceptional service.
Organizational Skills: Keeping track of multiple properties, lease agreements, and tenant details requires strong organizational abilities.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete.
Marketing Knowledge: Understanding of how to market properties effectively, including the use of digital tools and social media.
Knowledge of Fair Housing Laws: Familiarity with local, state, and federal housing laws to ensure compliance.
Problem-Solving: Ability to resolve tenant issues and property-related problems efficiently.
Qualifications
Typically, leasing officers have a background in real estate, property management, or sales. While formal education requirements can vary, many have at least a high school diploma or equivalent, and some have college degrees in business, real estate, or related fields.
