Nursing Attendant / Nursing Assistant (w/ NCII)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

2. Answers signal lights and bells to determine patients’ needs.

3. Bathes, dresses, and undresses patients and assists with personal hygiene to increase their comfort and well-being.

4. May serve and collect food trays , feed patients requiring help, and provide between-meal nourishment and fresh drinking water, when indicated.

5. Transports patients to treatment units, using wheelchair or wheeled carriage, or assists them to walk.

6. Drapes patients for examinations and treatments; remains with patients, performing such duties as holding instruments and adjusting lights.

7. Takes and records temperatures, pulse, respiration rates, and food intake and output, as directed.

8. May apply ice bags and hot water bottles.

9. Gives alcohol rubs.

10. Reports all unusual conditions or reactions to nurse in charge.

11. May assemble equipment and supplies in preparation for various diagnostic or treatment procedures performed by physicians or nurses.

12. Changes bed linen, runs errands, directs visitors, and answers telephones.

13. Collects charts, records, and reports, delivers them to authorized personnel.

14. Collects and bags soiled linen and stores clean linen.

15. May clean, sterilize, store and prepare treatment trays and other supplies used in the unit.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

A. Minimum Education/Experience Required:

● B.S. Nursing / Midwifery degree from a reputable college or university. May not be licensed.
