Medical Technologist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible in doing monthly report of the examination in the section assigned for status analysis by the hospital administration
Conduct plans and management to the Chief Medical technologist and pathologist to ensure an excellent quality laboratory service
Maintain Quality assurance of test procedures and quality control of records to comply with licensing regulations
Responsible in ordering and maintaining adequate inventory of reagents, supplies and other materials
Establishes and maintains controls to assure stock rotation and maximum utilization of supplies
Prepare, review and finalizes monthly census
Acts as head of the sections in the laboratory duly responsible in maintenance of good quality control system in general
Supervises the other Medical Technology staff in the performance of routine and special test procedure in the section
Performs the different routine and special examinations of the section as well as rotates to other section to widen scope of knowledge and training
Responsible in the inventory and evaluation of good quality reagents and supplies for the section
Responsible for the evaluation of new methods, procedures and equipment based on the actual demonstration of prospective companies and to recommend thereafter upgrading laboratory services.
Spearheads the full implementation of the standard operating procedure of the section. Updates and revises them with the approval of the Chairman of Laboratory
Responsible in the coordination of the preventive maintenance if the machines and equipment
Attend seminars, lectures and other workshops to update their knowledge and skills of the new techniques in laboratory procedures
Responsible for the observance of the turn-around time of test procedures.
Attend meetings of the department and present data, concerns and recommendations to improve the service of their section
II. Technical and Specific functions
Performs and reports, laboratory examinations histopathology and cytology section
Responsible in doing monthly inventory and purchase requisition of all reagents and supplies needed in the section
Evaluates the quality of each reagents and supplies and recommends purchase if necessary
Responsible in doing histopathology and cytology monthly report
Responsible in the operation and maintenance of each equipment and records preventive works done in the maintenance logbook provided
Responsible in the maintenance of quality control system for each examination in the section
Responsible in the costing of the test and updating standard operating procedure in the section
Rotates in the different sections of the laboratory Clinical Chemistry, Blood bank, Clinical Microscopy as the need arises.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

A. Minimum Education/Experience Required:

Must be a graduate of a course in medical technology.
Must be registered as a Medical Technologist.
At Least 2 years experience in hospital laboratory procedures.
