American Packing Industries (Philippines) Corporation and Garlock Inc. distribution in Asia started in the Philippines and Singapore in 1975 with subsidiary offices under the names of Garlock Philippines Inc. and Garlock (Singapore) Pte Ltd.
Garlock (S) Pte Ltd. served as the marketing network for Asia while the manufacturing operations was based in Garlock Philippines Inc. In 1983, Garlock Inc. deemed it appropriate to transfer these two operations to Asia Investments thus the change of company names to American Packing Industries (Philippines) Corporation.
